A weekend getaway

Last weekend Sarah, Jeffrey and Hayes invited us to join them at "their" lake house on Smith Lake in Alabama. Long story short, they have a personal "time-share" with several close friends and have a rotating schedule throughout the year. It's really quite simple unlike the nightmares I've heard about real time-shares. Anyway, it was there week, so they invited us and without hesitation we packed our bags (and Mo!) and joined them for the weekend. They had also invited another couple (who are also our friends) and their baby to come along--and considering that this couple is also included in the "time-share," it was fun to be able to tag along as faux time-share investors. We really enjoyed ourselves and had a very, very relaxing time. It was so nice to have no set schedule and to be able to bum around all weekend. The weather had warmed up considerably, so we even spent a good deal of time outside--on the deck, on the boat, by the fire pit. Scott and I had another crash course in parenting--except this time it was with babies!! Hayes, who is 6 months, and Caroline, who is 5 months, reminded us (just as the pre-teens Brynn and Gracyn) that we really enjoy other people's children and are not quite ready to have our own! It was special to see these little babies cooing together--and made me happy. I think the highlight of the weekend was indeed roasting marshmallows for so'mores. Amy was in charge of the ingredients--and did you know there are STRAWBERRY marshmallows??! Lots of fun was had by all, and we look forward to tagging along again! Thanks S & J!
This is the life!
