The Sylvesters made the trip down from KY for Christmas...so of course, we dined at a Sloan favorite restaurant--TAYLOR! It never gets old :) Aren't these boys precious!?

What an adventure!
For quite some time now I have wanted to go see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Christmas show in Memphis. I just knew it would be fantastic and would indeed get me in the Christmas spirit. I LOVE when the infamous Christmas song comes on the radio and I have been known to blast the speakers and dance along with a giddy smile on my face. Okay, yes, it's about that bad. So, this year, Scott surprised me with tickets. I knew this was a BIG deal because he has NEVER been excited about the Christmas song like I am...it ranks right up there with Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American" in his book. I knew this was a treat and I was thrilled.
So, off to Memphis we go. We went to The Peabody for a drink and to check out their Gingerbread Christmas display, then met some good friends for dinner and headed over to the FedEx Forum for the concert.
Wow. That's all I can say. Little did I know that the Trans-Siberian Orchestra had hours of thier own personal material other than the Christmas songs....and I certainly wasn't expecting to see a band that could cover for an AC/DC concert. It was intense. It was silly. It was a little over the top for me. And sweet Scott. He just sat patiently while I took it all in. There were lights, and lasers, and smoke, and LOUD music, and jumbrotrons (multiple!) with wolves and helicopters, and lots of drunk people head-banging. Wow.
I was glad we had our date night. But can definitely cross this one off my list. I think Willie Nelson concerts are more my speed.
Oh, and Baby T had quite a month--concerts from one extreme to another!

Merry Christmas!
Silly Mo...
So, Santa went shopping early and delivered some goodies for Mo. Our "stockings" had hung on the chimney with care for quite awhile, and Santa's
t-r-e-a-t-s had been in Mo's stocking for several days....and then suddenly, Mo's sniffer went crazy. While casually watching TV one evening, Mo jumped down from the couch and started sniffing like crazy. Then he made his way onto the fireplace and this is the look he gave us:
So, after realizing that he was NOT going to "forget" or give up, Scott took Mo outside and I hid his stocking in a hallway closet that we NEVER use. The boys came in and we went back to watching TV (probably Jersey Shore). About 10 minutes later we heard a little whimper, and noticed Mo was gone. This is where we found him:
Again, he would NOT give it up until I let him look in the closet. Sure enough, he found it!
This is now where Mo's stocking is stashed...with care. So much for visiting early Santa!

Willie Nelson in....Corinth?
You know by now that if Willie is in the nearby area, I'm there. When Scott heard Willie would be in Corinth, we decided to take his parents on a double date for their birthdays. They had never seen Willie Nelson before (gasp!), so it was lots of fun to take them. We had a nice dinner out and then headed to the Crossroads Arena (which doubles as a rodeo and monster truck venue).
An "intimate" crowd...it was a church night afterall.
As with most Willie concerts, this was an entertaining one! I'm glad we got to have a random date night with the Thompsons. We had a fun evening :)

Thankful for....
....FAMILY, laughter, homemade food, trips, creation, rest, games, long talks about nothing in particular, belly laughs, toddlers and a big boy!, brisk mountain mornings, picnics...the list could go on and on!
Also thankful for PICTURES! Below are LOTS of pics from the Sloan family Thanksgiving in Gatlinburg. We all gathered and surprised my mom, yet again, for a holiday gathering that centered around her relaxation (well, we tried!). We tricked her into thinking she was going with my dad for a Thanksgiving trip with just the 2 of them...when they finally arrived at their cabin, all of the kids and grandkids were waiting patiently to yell "SURPRISE!" We had a wonderful weekend--with lots of good food and fun memories.
Although I count my blessings often, it's nice to have a day set aside to stop all other activity and to surround yourself with your blessings. I found myself stopping for a moment of prayer throughout our weekend. Thank God for my abundant life!
Only in Gatlinburg...a home built as an exact replica of Barbie's house
Tram ride to OberGatlinburg...Jeremy was in close contact with random strangers!
Not the Sloan girls...safety in numbers!
Is this the Black Bear "Rebel?"
What a great use of 50 cents!

Happy Birthday Momma!
Yahooooo! This crazy kid....
turned the big 6-0 this year!!!
So, we just had to P-A-R-T-Y Sloan style...meaning we celebrated with a month long of surprises!! What a blast we had honoring my fantastic mother, Lynn. We showered her with love and laughter, toasted her with friends and family, reminisced through some silly life-long photos, treated her to gifts of affection (my gift was such an honor to give her--I had 60 or so of her friends/family from years past to write a personal letter that I included in a scrapbook of sorts for her!), and then to cap it all off, surprised her with a family gathering for Thanksgiving! I think she loved her month, and I know that everyone involved in the celebration(s) did!
Love you Momma!
Dinner at City Grocery with in-town Sloans...
Then on our way to the car, we "noticed" some awfully familiar, yet dated, photographs of the birthday girl on the door to a local bakery (where Dad was headed to pick up the cake!). Hmm....
SURPRISE!!!!!!! We had mom's friends and family join us for an evening of toasts to the birthday girl! It was such fun, because many of the guests put a lot of thought and time into their toasts :) Very special.
One of my last minute "gifts" was a near life-sized photo of Momma from her debutante ball! The guests loved it...some more than others.
Lots and lots of fun!!!! Happy Birthday Momma!
