2009 Thompson Family Christmas Trip...to Watercolor!

Rather than give gifts, the Thompson clan always goes on a Family Vacation together the week after Christmas. Because our vacation was so stressful last year, and because Gerald (Scott's dad) did not get to celebrate much (as he was in the hospital the entire week), we decided to go back to the same place and have a do-over. So, we packed up....and at the last minute decided to take Mo with us (can you tell that he did NOT want to be left behind!).

We hit the road and headed to the beach! Mo was a great travel companion, and prefered sitting where he could see out the window (I think he was wondering where we were headed!).

The weather is BEAUTIFUL and we have enjoyed being outside for the better part of our first day. There is something so therapeutic about the beach, a bike, and some rowdy boys to play with a pup.

Our nighttime entertainment has been Rock Band....pictures of that to come soon! Oh, and Gerald is enjoying himself this year!

Christmas Cheer!

Merry Christmas to all! You can see from our random pictures that we had a FABULOUS holiday with all of our family and friends!!! Love to you all.

Children's Christmas

The Thompson's were proud to see their star performers in the children's production of the Nativity scene at church. Eli was Joseph and Ford was a wise man. They both aced their lines--and then as soon as they could they stripped their costumes off so we could head to Taylor for a family dinner.

Our great friend, Brian, and his girlfriend (who became his fiance on this trip!), Laura, joined us for dinner, too. They live in North Carolina and were visiting for a long weekend---which included lots of good food and good beer! Love y'all and miss y'all!!

Gotta love shopping with Scott

American Stars Christmas

Some of the American Idol Stars came to Oxford for a Christmas concert at the Ford Center....and thanks to my mom, I got to take my favorite girls in town (Allyson, Brynn and Gracyn). Side note: My mom really enjoys treating the 2 girls--B and G--to theater productions each year, so she picked this concert knowing they were huge Idol fans. However, mom ended up being in Lexington with Catherine and her grandsons, SO, I inherited her ticket and invited the girls' mother to join us! Even though I know NONE of the Idol contestants since I (gasp) don't watch American Idol, I had a blast with the girls. And the talent was great to see first hand. Each of the singers were very gifted and I love me some Christmas music!

Brynn, Gracyn, Allyson--on the 3rd row!

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIDE ROLL!
I AM SO SO SO SO EXCITED FOR BAMA FOOTBALL!!!!
IT IS AWESOME TO SEE YOUR TEAM DOING SO WELL, PLAYING THEIR BEST! (Whether you're a Bama fan or not, I know you were impressed with how they played against Florida in the SEC Championship game!)

And even if you think this is tasteless to post, I had to do it. I agree Tebow is a fantastic football player, and a good Christian guy....but after his "promise" aka sob story when Ole Miss beat him, I lost all interest in him. And to be quite honest, I did get sick of hearing about Tim this, Tim that during every pre/post/mid-week report on SEC football. Tim is NOT the team, and the Tide showed that in Atlanta.

State Championship

Lafayette High made it to the State Championship game for the first time ever!! It was quite exciting and we had a fun week of celebrating leading up to the game. Sadly, the Commodores did not win the game, but all in all the school was well represented! The Friday before the game, we had a district wide pep rally, and had some special visitors:

Dexter McCluster (Run DMC) and Daverin Geralds (big old center)

And then 2 of my favorite Commodores--my 1st bosses (Rodney Flowers and Eddie Ray Murphree)

Scott's Birthday

For Scott's birthday he got a house. :) No surprise parties for him this year, but we did have a progressive Happy Hour of sorts. We had a few drinks with "work" friends (I think it's great that Scott has so many coworkers that are really our good friends!). Then we went to dinner with the Sloans and then back to drinks with our friends. It was nice to have a random celebration!
